Deep Foundation Drilling Laborer

Position Overview

J.N. Giammarino Construction in Binghamton, NY is seeking a Deep Foundation Drilling Laborer. The position will support the drilling crew in the installation of deep foundation systems such as drilled shafts, caissons, SOE, micro pile or other geotechnical foundation elements. Job Responsibilities

  • Perform heavy lifting and physical tasks in all weather conditions.
  • Assist other crew members to ensure smooth project workflow.
  • Assist in preparing drill sites, staging materials, and organizing tools.
  • Help position drilling rigs, cranes, and support equipment
  • Handle drill steel, augers, casings, and tooling during drilling operations.
  • Assist the operator with adding/removing drill rods, guiding casings, and managing hoses.
  • Assist with Install reinforcing steel cages, anchors, or pile components.
  • Load/unload trucks with equipment and materials.
  • Cut, measure, and prepare materials such as rebar, piping, and casings.
  • Ability to use basic construction tools (shovels, saws, grinders, pneumatic tools, pumps, etc.).
  • Clean, inspect, and maintain tools and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Construction or drilling experience preferred (deep foundation/ micro piles experience a plus).
  • Ability to lift 50–100 lbs regularly and work long shifts.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Work Environment

  • Ability to travel out-of-town to job sites as required. Company provides transportation, housing and meals.
  • Outdoor construction sites with varying terrain.
  • Exposure to weather, mud, noise, and heavy equipment.

  • Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety rules.
  • Wear proper PPE and participate in daily safety briefings.
  • Maintain clean, hazard-free work areas around active drilling operations.

Deep Foundation Pile Drilling Operator

Position Overview

J.N. Giammarino Construction is seeking a full-time Deep Foundation Pile Drilling Operator to operate drilling and piling equipment for deep foundation, earth retention, and ground improvement work.  This position is ideal for a hands-on operator with experience in drilled shafts, soldier piles, micro piles and SOE systems.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate drilling and piling equipment for: Drilled Shafts, Rock Sockets, Soldier Piles, Micro Piles, Driven Piles and Caissons.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain drill rigs and related tooling (augers, casing, DTH hammer, rotary head, etc.)
  • Read and work from plans, layouts, and drilling logs
  • Coordinate with foremen, laborers, and site supervisors
  • Monitor drilling parameters (depth, alignment, spoil conditions, rock transition)
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance
  • Maintain safe work practices in compliance with OSHA and site-specific requirements
  • Assist with mobilization, demobilization, and jobsite setup
  • Accurately document production and drilling activities as required

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience operating foundation drilling or piling equipment.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Drilled Shafts, Micro pile, rock drilling / rock sockets, casing installation and DTH hammer drilling.
  • Ability to work near existing structures and in tight access conditions
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety and excavation support systems
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Willingness to travel to job sites throughout the Northeast (NY,CT,MA,VT,PA) area. Company provides transportation, housing and meals
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience operating rigs such as Soilmec, Comacchio, or similar
  • Experience drilling & piling in urban environments and limited clearance sites
  • Experience with air and mud rotary systems
